Christ’s face engraved in a single spiral line: Claude Mellan, “The Sudarium, or Veil of St Veronica,” engraving, France, 1649.
In a single line and starting from the tip of Jesus’ nose, Mellan has engraved the entire face, the folded veil, and the lettering below. The modulations in direction, from thick to thin, model the image in chiaroscuro (light and dark). Thus the shapes and volume of the engraving are achieved. [text via British Museum]

Hollywood Bowl Easter Services, 1947 - Los Angeles, California
HOLLYWOOD BOWL: More than 25,000 worshipers gathered in Hollywood Bowl — a setting more picturesque than ever before. Hours before the chimes began to ring at 5:30 am thousands had found seats on the sloping tiers or on bordering hillsides. Trumpeters heralded the dawn.
The siting then comes as a huge pavilion that cuts the existing plateau, the upper volume consists of a large minimalist rectangle that is a balance between a cubic volume of stones. To give continuity to the external views in front of the residence, we laid out trees rigidly on a geometric grid. The light-colored floor is formed by stones in the same shade as the stone of the residence.
The ladscape by Renata Tilli worked very well in the proposal and appropriated the existing species.
The interior design integrates landscape, building, interiors and decoration. Woodwork designs, benches and lighting were designed in three dimensions for each of the projects.

I wonder if they’re still friends.
